With the rapid urbanization and development of big cities and towns, the graph of crimes is also on the increase. This phenomenal rise in offences and crime in cities is a matter of great concern and alarm to all of us. There are robberies, murders, rapes and what not.

The frequent and repeated thefts, burglaries, robberies, murders, killings, rapes, shoplifting, pick pocketing, drug- abuse, illegal trafficking, smuggling, theft of vehicles etc., have made the common citizens to have sleepless nights and restless days. They feel very insecure and vulnerable in the presence of anti-social and evil elements. The criminals have been operating in an organised way and sometimes even have nationwide and international connections and links.

The political links of the criminals have complicated the matters. Kidnappers, rapists, murderers, smugglers and such other criminals are indulging in their crimes under the wings and protection of the political leaders. Steps should be taken to curb and eliminate this dangerous trend. The masses should rise to fight political patronage of criminals. Corrupt politicians should be denied party tickets and party positions.

Answer:

Today, the threat posed by the crime rate affects every nation. People claim that society directly contributes to the development of criminals. Many laws were passed by the government to lower crime rates and make the world a better place to live, but most of them did not produce the desired effects. In this speech, I would want to go through a few of the reasons why people commit crimes and what the government can do to stop them.

Poverty and unemployment are the main causes. To achieve our objectives and have fulfilling lives, each of us should have a job. The population expansion also made it difficult for each person to find work. Unemployed people may struggle to make ends meet and grow impatient with one another. This ultimately leads to antisocial or criminal behavior where they may get quick money.

Broken families or lone parenting are two more major causes. Here, children will not receive any attention from the family or the community; this leaves them feeling alone and encourages them to commit crimes. Children who have had negative experiences in the past, for instance, could act out against society. Internet, pornographic media, and detective fiction all contribute significantly to their deterioration.

Population management is a key strategy for eradicating crime, and establishing small-scale businesses to employ recent graduates may also help to reduce unemployment. Last but not least, strict legal measures as well as therapy can help to reduce crime to a certain extent.

Conclusion:

In a nutshell, today's kids will be the law-abiding adults of tomorrow. Starting from the ground level is the best approach. To make them excellent and prevent crimes, society and the government share equal responsibility.
