Our environment is important for us. Not only locally but also globally around the world. Today it's time to lay focus on the environment and peace. We do this special deed together with thousands of schools, youth groups, cities and organisations around the world. We plant trees today with our friends in the North, South, East and West. The first trees are planted in Oceania. Then, following the Sun, trees will be planted in Asia, Europe and Africa. The last trees will be put to Earth on Hawaii and Cook Islands. Thousands of schools in over 100 countries are planting trees with us.

Trees that we plant today are a part of big campaign by Environment Online – ENO, aiming to plant tree for climate and peace. We are doing our part and challenging others to follow. We are celebrating as we have been planting now peace trees for 15 years.

We are also celebrating the international day of peace with a theme "Climate action and peace" by the United Nations. The theme draws attention to the importance of combatting climate change as a way to protect and promote peace throughout the world.

Climate change causes clear threats to international peace and security. Natural disasters displace three times as many people as conflicts, forcing millions to leave their homes and seek safety elsewhere. The salinization of water and crops is endangering food security, and the impact on public health is escalating. The growing tensions over resources and mass movements of people are affecting every country on every continent.

Tree is a symbol for us. Firstly, it reminds us of nature and the importance of climate and environmental protection. Secondly, it symbolizes our co-operation between schools and people around the world. We live in different cultures but appreciate their richness. We respect the rights of everyone, also nature and animals. Let’s mark these trees as peace trees and grow together with our trees towards better future.

Explanation:

Good Afternoon, teachers and students today I would like to deliver my speech to discuss tree plantations. Plantations range from small or big pieces of land and farms planted with trees. Tree plantations are different from forests, as the trees are planted in clear rows and lines with standard distances between the trees. In forests, the trees are randomly placed and the distances between the trees are not uniform.

Tree plantations can be for fruit trees like mangos, apples, oranges and many other fruits. They can also be planted with trees for business value like timber, rubber, oil palm trees and gum trees among others. Dear teachers and student trees are a source of life they give food, oxygen and shelter. Trees give us fruits for food and oil. We also use tree leaves as food or elements for our beverages like tea. They are also used as spices for our food. Trees like oil palm, coconut, olive trees give us edible oils that are nutritious for our food.
