Explanation:

According to civic officials, the wall painting pr-oject is in its final stages. Once completed, it will be the largest single wall pai-nting project in the city.

The Walkeshwar wall along the governor’s bungalow is six feet tall and 1092 feet long (from Raj Bhavan gate 1 to gate 2). There are total 69 panels on the wall, which is spr-ead on the 6000 sq ft. area.

“There will be several themes, which will be displayed in contemporary Warli style by depicting various landmarks of Mumbai. There are about 60 themes along the wall and no themes will be repeated,” said Vishwas Mote, assistant municipal commissioner, D ward.

The BMC has appointed Artdesh Foundation to implement the project, which involve conceptualisation of a story by various contemporary Warlis with different landmarks in Mumbai. It will start by a traditional Warli depicting the village scenes, growing, cutting and loading the crops and city scenes.

The Warli figure will explore the city from CST to South Mumbai, suburbs, Navi Mumbai, then back to the CST and return his village.

While covering the city, various landmarks like Banganga, Gateway of India, Taj, CST, Kala Ghoda, Sassoon Docks, Borivali National Park, etc. will be painted on each panel along with Warli style figures, trees and animals.“The story will start from first panel (gate 1) to last panel, which is the upper gate of Raj Bhavan,” said Mr Mote.
