Good afternoon and thank you.

It is an honour to be here with you today to bring greetings from the Board of Education of Black Gold Regional Schools.

We are here today to say welcome and congratulations to the new teachers of Greater Black Gold. This is also our opportunity to say thank you for choosing teaching as your profession!

Few professions are as important as teaching. You have the ability to mold young minds and to prepare your students for life’s challenges. You have had many teachers help you to get where you are today, and now it is your turn to be the teacher, the mentor, the guide and in many cases “the Star”.

Your job as a teacher features you as the star. To your students, you will be the superstar, and every day brings a chance to perform miracles of learning and laughter in your classroom.

With a positive attitude and a sense of humour, you will create wonderful learning environments for your students. You will find things to laugh about each day. Sometimes it will be silly jokes you make up as you teach, sometimes it will be jokes that students share with you, and sometimes students will come out with the funniest statements without realizing what they’ve said. Find the fun and enjoy it!

“A teacher takes a hand, opens a mind, touches a heart and shapes the future” (Author Unknown)

“Teaching is…the profession that makes all other professions possible!” (Author Unknown)

We look forward to all of the miracles in your classrooms!

Thank you for believing in children, for guiding through example, for leaving an unforgettable mark on the future, for touching the lives of so many, for inspiring passion and inspiring success. Thank you for choosing teaching as your profession!

Welcome and congratulations!
