The King and the Spider
Robert Bruce was a brave king of Scotland. He fought many battles to win freedom for his country but every time he was defeated. Once he was defeated so badly that he had to run away from the battlefield to save his life. He hid himself in a cave and began to ponder over the faults. Finally, he decided to give up the struggle. Suddenly, he saw a spider that was trying to climb up the wall to reach its cobweb. The spider tried many times to reach its destination but all in vain. It failed nine times but did not lose heart. At last it succeeded in reaching its cobweb. This inspired the king and he gathered his army again with new zeal. This time he defeated his enemy and won freedom from the English.
