Answer:

I am going to share this here but don't think that I am crazy. This is really the strongest childhood memory that I have, particularly because of its otherworldly, mystical, unbelievable nature.

This happened when I was 7-8 years old. We lived in the area of .

I do not know what happened before or after the incident, all that I vividly remember is seeing some flying objects in the sky. Yes, exactly that. The picture is still fresh in my mind as if it happened yesterday: I am standing in the square shaped balcony of our house that is located on the first floor of the building. The sky is a clear blue and suddenly, out of nowhere, I see some things and people hovering well above me at an angle of almost 90 degrees. My eyes follow them for as long as possible before they vanish into thin air. I am not sure about what exactly those objects or people were, and I do not like to spice up this memory by assuming or guessing what they were, but I am sure about one of them: a life-sized cannon in dark green with someone sitting on top of it, probably an operator. In fact, everything that I saw was life sized. I also clearly remember that the whole scene looked characteristic of a battle like situation—like the ones that were fought in the ancient period.

As far as I remember, I did not talk about this incident with anyone, not even my parents. Or maybe I did but the conversation was too short to remember. I really wasn't so argumentative as a child anyway.

This memory has lived in the back of my mind for all my life now. And even though I knew about its existence, I never mentioned the incident to anyone—there was no sense in doing so, was there any? I was sure no one would believe or understand.

Some years back, to my surprise, I was proved wrong. I was having this fun conversation driven by nostalgia with my sister who is two years younger to me, when I casually mentioned this long foregone reflection. Her reaction came as a shocker to me. "What?! You too saw that? I had witnessed the same happening and even mentioned it to my friends I was playing with at that time. But none of them could see what I saw, inspite of my persistent coaxing!" She also remembers another object apart from the cannon and its operator—a chariot with a charioteer riding on it. "Characteristic of a battle like situation—like the ones that were fought in the ancient period," didn't I say.

That came as a big jolt to me. Even though I had witnessed the whole thing and felt it with all my five senses, I had all along forced myself into believing that it can't be true. But with my sister reaffirming everything word to word (in fact more), there was no room left for denial or disbelief. Not for me at least.
