Answer:
The danger of bad company
An old man was worried that his four sons has fallen into bad company. They started picking up many bad habits. The merchant advised them to stay away from bad friends. But the sons paid no attention. The father thought that it would be better not to scold them further because quarreling will only make matter worse.
The father thought about what would be the best thing to do to make his sons realise their error of keeping bad company. Finally he came up with a plan. He went to the market and purchased a bag of fresh apples and also a rotten one. On returning home he called all his four sons. He asked them to put the bag of apples along with the rotten one in the almirah. The sons obeyed after all it was not a difficult thing to do. After some days the father asked his sons to bring the bag of apples. The son brought the bag and placed it on the table near his father. The father told them to open the bag. As the sons opened the bag they surprised to see that all the apples have become rotten.
The father gently explained to his four sons that one rotten apple have spoiled all the other good apples in the bag. In the same way one bad friend could spoil all the other good boys and girls. The boys immediately understood the lesson that their father was trying to teach them. They promised their father that they will change their old ways. They stopped mingling with their bad companions and became good sons.
Moral: It is better to be alone than in bad company.
