He ran as fast as his little feet could, not really clear where he was going and what he was to do once he got there, but nonetheless he was determined to leave that place. That hell. He knew that wherever he went, it would be better, he'd finally be able to live the life he'd always wanted to, a normal life. A life without violence, abuse, and hatred. Yet somehow the thought of leaving saddened him to some level, this place was all he'd ever known, it shaped his very being. Quickly with his strides, his barefoot feet smashing into the cold rock and gravel beneath him, he shook his head as to get rid of these thoughts of weakness. He decided at that moment, that this was no longer the fearful running of a little boy but rather, this was the running of a man, towards his freedom.
