Answer:

it was a gloomy day. My mom had gone out shopping with the neighbor. Dad hadn’t turned up from work… And how did that leave me? Exactly! Babysitting two four year olds. I even had a test the next day. No use complaining, nobody cared.

“Who wants cookies?” I called as I walked into the twins’ room. Liam and Elsie were sitting on bed screaming each other’s heads off (as usual). “Cookies?” I shouted over the noise. The kids looked at each other and then at me as if I had been the one screaming.

I rolled my eyes as I turned round and walked towards the kitchen. Amazingly they followed. “They must love cookies more than I thought”. “Sit down now. No screaming please.” Muttering the last word I set a bowl of chocolate chip cookies on the table. Liam and Elsie happily started digging in.

“Whew! Finally some peace and quiet.” I sat down beside the counter and helped myself to the last of the milk left. I was just finishing the glass when…

“Milk!” cried Elsie. “I want milk!”

“Hey! I want milk too” Liam joined in, both of them doing their best to make my afternoon as miserable as possible.

“Sorry kids milk is over. Let’s watch Scooby Doo” I tried a smile as I gestured at the TV.

“Maya, I don’t want Scooby Doo. I want milk.” Elsie was almost sobbing. “There there now, Scooby Doo will give you milk.” I lifted her up and carried her over to the TV. Liam followed chanting “Milk, milk, milk” at the top of his voice.

“Argh! There goes my peace” I thought setting down the thrashing little girl and turning on the TV. Elsie’s screaming continued unaffected. Liam sat down on the couch next to me and started raining me with tiny punches, still chanting “Milk, milk, milk”.

“Will you stop screaming” I roared simultaneously swearing under my breath. “Naughty!!!” shrieked the twins, but finally settled down watching Scooby Doo.

“Maya, want milk” either of them would shout out occasionally but they were mainly focused on the cartoon.

I heaved a great sigh of relief and leaned back on the couch closing my eyes. I was starting to doze off when I heard the welcome sound of car doors closing and the front door opening.

“Daddy!” I squealed in delight and sprinted into the hall, the kids at my heels. I hugged dad tight moaning “OH my gods, dad! Don’t ever leave me with these two again! I think my ear drums are dead!” Dad looked once at me and started laughing. The twins joined in squealing in harmony.

“This is so not funny!” I frowned, trying unsucessfully to hide a smile.

thatś when she knew that she hit a jackpot of some pice and quite .
