STORY WRITING:

SOMEONE'S SMILE!

It was monsoon season. The monsoon was almost at its peak. It didn't rained a lot this year. But suddenly one day, it started raining cats and dogs.  It was raining continuously  without any interval. Now the situation of water logging in the city arised and the covers of manhole started dwelling off due to the heavy flow of water on the roads. Vehicles got struck between the roads, no one was able to reach out to their destination.  I was able to see huge traffic jams till farr off standing in my gallery. I was enjoying the rain a lot because  just because of it we got holiday in our school so I was too happy.

I saw a group of children approaching toward the area of heavy water logging. They seemed to be beggars but even though what if they were beggars they too are human. I don't know but a bad thought striked in my mind, as it was the area with heavy water logging and also there were a lot of manhole which were of course not visible due to the overlapping of water, but I was aware of all the manhole as I was the resident of that area and moreover I always used to roam here and there so I was familiar. I was worried about the children falling in to those uncovered manhole. But seeing a lot of people down there around those children I decided to stay in my gallery and proceeded with my enjoyment of rain. But it was my careless attitude! One child fell in to the manhole, he was hardly 8 to 9 years old child.

I ran down as fast as I could. People surrounded the manhole but no one were doing anything to save that child everyone was just discussing and abusing the municipality for this incident. I took the initiative and jumped down. I don't know how and who gave me this courage to do so. As it was too familiar about my area and it's happening due to roaming around everytime, I also knew that during the renovation the municipality made some arrangements for ladder. Thinking about that ladder I just jumped down, I think it was the day when my luck was at the apex. Whatever I thought of happened in the same way, the child anyhow was holding on to the ladder, as it wasn't too late he was still in his conscious. But the question was now, 'how will I escape this manhole?' To my luck again my dad, my super hero came up there he asked the people and no sooner than he came to know her daughter is in the manhole he called upon the police men who were standing just outside the society gate. They came and pulled me up with some kind of machine. Everyone was clapping and smiling for my bravery. My dad hugged me with tears in his eyes. He scolded me too but at the end a pleasant kiss at my forehead. My bravery was also praised by the police people who helped me to get out from the manhole. My bravery story was published in the newspaper the very next day with my picture. I was also felicitated by  'Bravery award' by the state government.

I was feeling very happy not due to the fame I earned but because of the smile that I saw on that child's face once I rescued him from the manhole.

Moral: Braveness is always rewarded.
