A  cold winter night appears extremely gloomy and dismal especially when all others in the house are sleeping soundly and we the only ones awake. We imagine seeing reflections and hearing weird sounds. That is what I first thought when I heard the thudding sound. Initially I felt that is was just my imagination running wild, but when the sound came again for the second and then the third time I was sure it could not be ignored. I got up from my bed as I switched on the light, the sound stopped. Now I knew something was wrong. Then I heard hurried footstep. I come out of my room and stated walking in the direction of the footsteps. Then I saw a shadow on the wall and realized there was a burglar in our house. I immediately switched on the lights of the living room and there to my surprise I saw my grandfather sneaking behind the refrigerator with a bowl of ice-cream in his hand. By now other members of my family had also woken up and we all caught our grandfather with the big bowl of ice-cream. He had been trying to open the lid of the bowl, which was a little too tight, hence causing the thudding sound. As grandfather looked at us sheepishly, we all broke out into uncontrollable laughter
