Make Studies A Burden

Medhavi was a brilliant student who always topped in her

class. She was the pride of her parents and apple of her teachers’ eyes. Thus life

was going on smoothly; she achieved one success after another; many

certificates, trophies, and medals decorated the walls of her room.

However, a very unpredictable and unexpected occurrence cast

the darkness on her bright life. In the first unit test conducted in the new

class, her performance in academics plummeted. First time in her life she was

not among the toppers. Even in extra-curricular activities she performed ordinarily.

Her parents and teachers were exceedingly worried.

One day her class teacher asked her, ‘Medhavi, what has

happened to you? Is there anything that is bothering you? Kindly do share it

with me!’ ‘I myself am in a shock madam! I don’t know what has happened to me! I

just feel a constant stress!’, replied Medhavi. The teacher said, ‘I think you

must talk to the school counselor. She will definitely tell you what the

problem is.’ So the class teacher took her to the counselor.

The counselor spent entire one hour with Medhavi. After

having talked to her, she sent her out and called the class teacher in. the

counselor said, ‘Medhavi has fallen victim to her teachers and parents’ high expectations.

She is slogging all the time; her mind is cluttered with the fearful thoughts

of coming up to the teachers and parents’ expectations. She is skimping on her

sleep and balanced diet. She is just studying, studying and that too under

stress. Kindly treat her like normal children. Ask her parents to meet me.’ The

teacher immediately understood. She also counseled Medhavi. She told her the

importance of rest, sleep, fun, and joy along with the hard-work.

Medhavi’s parents also started taking more care of their daughter. They ensured she took proper sleep, rest, diet and other recreational activities. Thus after a period of six month, she began doing well in her performance. in the second unit test she topped the class.

Thanks
