Title: Nip in the Bud.

The monkey eats both the pieces of the bread and the dispute resolves as the reason behind the fight does not exist anymore. Sometimes omitting the cause from the root resolves the problem. The cause for the fight was the piece of the bread and when the bread is no longer in existence the fight automatically resolves.  

Both the cats stop fighting after the monkey eats the bread. They were scared of monkey so returns to their abode peacefully looking for an alternative food option.

Thus, the phrase “Nip in the bud” aptly suits the above situation.
