Uday was a young boy of fifteen years. His father was a poor man who could not afford to pay his school fees. On the other hand, Uday was bright child who wanted to continue his studies and do something brave as well so as to win recognition far and wide. He had a helpful nature and was always ahead if somebody needed his help.
One day he was coming back from his friend’s house when he saw two people talking to each other in a low tone. He did not pay much attention to them and walked ahead of them. Somehow he could not stop himself from overhearing them.
He just heard a few word like crowded place, good for their work and blast. He thought over it and was shocked to realise that they must be talking about some bomb-explosion. He looked around so that he could follow them but they had disappeared.
He went back on the way where he had seen them first and realised that he was only some distance away from a fair which was going on in that area. He ran inside the fair-ground and informed the authorities present there about his doubt.
At first, they did not believe him and took him to be a bogey man but then they made the announcement to clear the ground. People started running for their lives. Everyone was trying to rush out of that place as early as possible. Within five minutes the field was empty. Meanwhile the sniffing dogs had been called in by the security guards from the police station.
The dogs took a round of the field and found a small rubber ball lying in a corner. A ticking sound was coming from that ball. The bomb-diffusion squad had also reached the spot. They took the ball and tried to find out what exactly it was.
It took them some time to make out that it was a bomb which had been planted to terrorise the people. The squad took the ball with them to diffuse it. Everyone was patting Uday’s shoulder for being so alert in informing the authorities. He had arrested the plan of terrorists. He was very happy. The next day, all the leading newspapers were full of the report, appreciating the little boy Uday who had saved so many lives.
