Once upon a time, there lived a good Saint Peter. He lived in the world below. One day, he came to the door of a cottage, after traveling round the earth he was about to faint due to fasting. The day was almost over. He saw a little woman in a cottage where she was baking cakes. Saint Peter was starving he decided to eat some cakes. He went near the store of the little woman and asked her to give one.

The little woman then agreed ans made a very little cake but she thought that cake was too big to give. So she decided to make an another cake but it looked same as the previous one. She then took a tiny scrap of dough and rolled it so flat and baked it thin as a wafer but she couldn't part with that again. So she decided to give no cake to Saint Peter.

Saint Peter then got angry for not getting any cake as he was very hungry. He said that she was too selfish to be a human so he decided to turn her into a woodpecker and told that all she can do now is just bore and bore in the dry wood to get food. It was like a punishment given to the little woman by the Saint Peter.
