I have always worn my children’s birthstones around my neck. One morning, when I was late for work, my infant son Larry’s topaz birthstone fell from my gold chain. I frantically searched for it, whispering to myself, “I lost my Larry, but I will get him back.”
That day, Larry’s cardiologist called with test results from one of his first checkups. He would need emergency heart surgery. Happily, the operation was a success, and I whispered in Larry’s ear, “I thought I lost you, but I knew I’d get you back.”

It was a cold stormy night, David was at the hospital waiting for his first child. His wife Teresa has been pregnant for 37 weeks. David began praying that his son might one day find fame in the professional surfing world.
The Good news had come with a bad news too. The baby was born successfully without any severe problems to the mother...But, the baby couldn't see as he was blind. The father was disappointed. They named their son Ereck.
The young boy turned out to be a smart kid and a fast learner compared to the normal kids and was happy too. He was a joyful kid and made everyone laugh with his joke. He was good in studies, art, etc. He was an all rounder.
Still his father didn't appreciate it as he was blind. Though his mother always supported him. Every night, after Ereck went to bed; Teresa and David would have an argument of allowing david to continue the normal school or send him in a special school.
Ereck knew all this would happen.
When Ereck was 10 years old that was the first and last time he had felt the soothing waves.
From that day on wards ereck began rigorously training to become a surfer, despite his inability to see the waves around him with the help of him mom without the dad knowing.He had that strong dedication and the want to prove his dad wrong...and also wanted to show that he can fly as high or higher than a normal kid.
Ereck maintained the dream and at 19 he was a professional surfer, having taken his father's dream and made it his own reality. Today, he travels all around the world delivering inspiring speeches, visiting surf camps, attending conferences, and, of course, surfing.
