ROX-ANNE CRITION DO I HAVE TO ASK YOU AGAIN TO STOP TALKING?” yelled Mrs Furiall the head-mistress of Dubbo Technology College to Rox-anne Crition a year 5 student in lecture room. “N-n-no M-m-miss Furiall” replied Rox-anne. Rox-anne had a habit of getting into mischief, her friends on the other hand Brielle Adams, Amie Eurike, Edwina Morgan, Ell Moore and Skye-Leigh Soory were teachers pets and had all the new trends, while Rox-anne has 3/4 of her wardrobe full of hand-me-downs.
The day before the big exam, Brielle said “Hey Rox, have a look at my new phone, it was the most expensive in the shop!” Rox-anne looked at it enviously. “ Great” she said gloomily “ I’m so happy for y-” Rox-anne was stopped by the loud speaker. Mrs Furiall had just got to school because every morning as soon as she gets to school she reads the messages out to the students at 8:30, but today the whole of the years 5-12 of the school had to get to the Lecture Theatre at 8:30 for the normal yearly lesson about how to fill in the answer sheet for the big exam tomorrow. “ Wow, I can’t wait till tomorrow” said the smartest of them all, Ell Moore. “I can” said Skye-Leigh, Edwina and Rox-anne all at the same time. Brielle just shrugged. She was too busy thinking about her new phone.
“Show me your new phone now” whispered Rox-anne to Brielle as they sat in the lecture room.
“ROX-ANNE CRITION DO I HAVE TO ASK YOU AGAIN TO STOP TALKING?” yelled Mrs Furiall, yet again "GO SEE THE COUNSELLOR, MISS DAVIES, SHE WILL KNOW WHAT TO DO WITH YOU". In front of the whole of the College, how embarrassing.
"Now Rox-anne I hear you have a habit of talking am I correct?" says Miss Davies, the counsellor, with a sneer.
"Yes, and I hear you can give good advice, am I correct? Replied Rox-anne with a smart-alec smirk on her face.
"Yes and if you don't do something about your constant talking you will have NO career at all." smiled Miss Davies evilly. Rox-anne's smirk turned to a frown, her face went red and she stormed out of the Administration Office and straight to the girls toilet.
What a bad day this turned out to be, firstly, Brielle’s new phone which Rox-anne desperately wanted, but knew she would never be able to get. Secondly, the horrible thought of having no career because of her talk, then last of all the prospect of a big exam tomorrow.
