“I want that super enormous round coin in the sky! It shines beautifully, it shines!” Wombat trilled feverishly.
“That is the moon, not a coin, nor gold or cheese. You will not take the moon from its rightful place in the sky. It is the guardian of the dead. See their eyes - the stars - watching you. See them laughing, scowling, smiling. They are watching you Wombat. You will not take the moon from the dead.” Wise owl said calmly. “Nonsense, I will get that marvellous coin!”
Wombat walked to his bushland home, eyeing the sparkly moon. He would get that coin. As he ambled slowly past the monster trees and the moon he saw an old rusty barbecue. “Gold!” squealed Wombat. “I will build a golden rocket and fly to the golden coin in the sky!”
Wombat spent all night building his ‘golden’ rocket from the rusty barbecue and it was finished by the morning dawn light. He dragged the heavy rocket to Wise Owl and bragged: “Look at my wonderful rocket. I will fly to the coin and bring it back. All living creatures in this miserable bushland will want to know me!” Wombat declared. He started his rusty rocket by pulling a purple painted lever. The rocket went and started to climb the cloudy sky, up, up and away!
He soared past the stars and Mars’ funny aliens. Then he found the moon. He scrambled down his purple rocket steps and reached out slowly for the moon…
“OUCH!” The moon had burnt Wombat’s paw. He climbed into his rocket as fast as he could and soared back to his bush home, crying.
He ran to Wise Owl “It burnt me! I’m sorry! I won’t be like a horrible, thieving magpie that loves sparkly things anymore.” Wombat hung his head ashamedly.
“All that glitters is not gold,” said Wise Owl calmly.
Once upon a time there were two friends named Ram and Laxman who were travelling by train from their village to the city. They both were planning to do a lot of shopping in the city malls and were discussing about this. The first thing they wanted to buy was a wrist watch for both of them.
A very well dressed young man with impeccable manners who was travelling with them overheard their conversation and politely asked if they would be interested in buying a couple of watches that he had.The stranger said that a friend of his had brought these watches from abroad and that they were made of pure gold.He opened his bag, brought of two beautiful watches that were stunning to look at and sparkled in their gold straps.
Ram liked the watches so much that he immediately agreed to buy one.Laxman however cautioned Ram not to take a hasty decision since they did not know for sure if the watch was made of gold.Laxman warned Ram many times not to purchase those watches and scolded his friend for coming to hasty decision which will take both of them to unwanted situations in the future.
Ram brushed aside all of Laxman's objections an paid the stranger the huge sum he asked for and took the watch home. However,a couple of days later the watch stopped ticking and when Ram took it to a watch repairer,he was told that the watch was not made of gold and that he had been cheated.
Ram was shattered that he had lost his hard earned money by getting carried away by glossy appearance of the watch. He felt ashamed of his foolish act of taking a hasty decision and not listening to his friend.
Thereafter Ram became cautious of what he is doing and became a discriminatory person.
