A mountain lion was approaching
closer and closer and I was trying to remember the instruction written on the
instruction board. It was a cloudy day and I had been trekking in the mountain
valley; tired and all alone.
For a few moments I did not react to the impending danger in front of me, at least 200 m away from the spot where I laid crouched and tensed, breathing as quietly as possible. The sweat trickled on my cheeks when I spotted a tall tree 10 feet away from me.
I moved slowly towards the tree without making any noise and within a few minutes I climbed over to the tallest branch of the tree. Thinking that the ‘mountain lion’ had not spotted me, I reached for my water bottle to drink some water. But, suddenly I heard a thundering roar and saw the ‘jungle king’ at the base of the tree.
I had lost all hopes of survival when I heard a gunshot and saw the jeep of the forest ranger. They scared the lion and I was relieved to realize that I was alive for another day of my life.
