Greed is Harmful
The cash van guard got down for two minutes to attend an urgent phone call. The driver revved up the engine and sped the van. The guard understood the situation immediately. He hung up the phone and requested a man passing by to help him chase the speeding van.
The man with the bike gunned the engine and sped after the van. Meanwhile, the guard sitting pillion on the bike, took aim of the speeding van and fired a shot at the hind tyre of the van.
Fortunately, the bullet hit the tiger and the van speed lessened gradually. The bike overtook the van and the guard, pointing the gun at him asked him to get out of the van with his hands up. Soon, the police arrived and arrested the driver for attempting to steal public cash.
Moral: Greed is harmful.
Good Deeds
Good deeds have immense power; I witnessed this power quite early in my life. I was in +2. The school organized a five-day long trip to Shimla and Kufri. I longed to join this excursion. Excited I went home and requested my mother to allow me to join the trip. My mother said she would consult my father first. I became quite anxious! At night after dinner, mother broached up my wish to join the excursion. My father was quite furious. He felt I was too young to take care of myself!
I was deeply hurt as I was dying to join the excursion. I did not want to miss the fun of being in the company of my friends! I remained sad and dejected throughout the next day. I also prayed to God to help me persuade my father. Thus lost in my own thoughts I was going home after the school, I heard the yelping of a pup in trouble. I forgot everything! My only thoughts were to save this pup in trouble. As I focused on the yelps, I was able to locate the exact spot from where the yelping was coming from. As I went to the edge of the ditch, I saw a very adorable puppy trapped in the slimy mud. I descended the ditch and succeeded in rescuing the puppy. My clothes were badly soiled. I felt so contented to save the puppy.
At the dinner table that night my father asked, ‘When is the school trip going?’ I replied, ‘Next week!’ ‘Do you want to go?’ he asked. I said, ‘Yes father! I really want to join this trip! This is my last year in the school. Kindly allow me!’ I pleaded. ‘Take the money from me in the morning and deposit it’, said he. I jumped with joy. My good deed had been paid in full and my prayers had been answered. I could now join the expedition.
Moral: Good deeds never go waste.
