• With the growth of railways and industries there emerged a new class in the society, the working class. There was a demand of industrial workers in the country in the second half of the nineteenth century.

• The over exploitation by the oppressive landlords, zamindars , the indigo planters also led the people to migrate towards the cities.

• Cities began to be over-crowded with people.

• In order, to spread their business across the country the British Government started setting up railway lines to far off places. This also helped in the growth of industries .

• During the Swadeshi Movement , there was a growth of industries. During this time of industrial development there emerged a class of working class.
