Beatrice heard a loud thud. It appeared as if something had been banged on the ceiling. She started towards the stairs to see what had happened. She wasn't scared that she was alone in the house, but she'd be frightened if she found she had company! She heard the thud again and again. She reached the upper floor and saw an astonishing sight: a monkey was swinging on the blade of the ceiling fan! Eek eek!  The monkey cooed and jumped on the floor with that thud. Beatrice had always wanted to have a pet but her parents would refuse. “How about we keep you a secret…Bruno?” She grinned.

She took the monkey to her room and placed him in her big toy basket. Bruno grunted, "Eeek EEEEEK!"  She closed the lid and went upstairs to clean all his trails.

The following week, her parents suspected something was wrong. Beatrice barely had meals at the table and muffled grunts from her room were audible. They decided to find the secret she seemed to be hiding.

When her parents entered her room, they found the creature bouncing up and down on the bed, cooing, Beatrice trying to stop him.

Father jumped. Mother fled the room, screaming. Beatrice gulped. She started explaining it all to Father.

He said, "We'll send him t' da zoo. NO objections!"

"We can keep him here! He won't do anything!"

"NO!" thundered Mom, entering the room.

"Or, we'll offer him to Aunt Sim." Father nodded. "I wonder wut that monkey'll do in her farm."

Aunt Sim accepted the monkey happily. Beatrice gave a goodbye hug to him. She wasn't sad. He would make new friends in the farm. However, she promised to visit Aunt Sim's farm every Sunday!
