I know I wasn't supposed to hear my parents' call but I am so glad I did. It wasn't exactly my fault either. I was going to call my friend Arya and had picked up the cordless when I realized that the call was already on with some other speaker using the landline. My parents were talking about how there was this huge debt due to my dad's business going into a loss and how everything was going to be so different now. We would have to sell the property at the West End and perhaps even take loan from my uncle. I decided that I had heard enough and put it down. There was something I could do to help the situation, surely. I kept thinking. I could try and cut down on my costs. I could do without the gym for a few months and even close my library membership. As I thought of all of this, my mother came from the other room and told me that my milk was ready. I was so overcome with emotions, I hugged her.
