Once there was a man who lived in a small house. He had everything he needed to live a comfortable life. He had a job with which he earned enough to maintain himself. But he was very greedy.
Every day he used to look at the advertisements in the newspapers for new jobs. One day he saw a job which offered a very high salary. But the condition was that, the Company allowed only a jobless person to apply for it. So the candidates had to leave all other jobs before applying for that job.
The man's greed prompted him to leave the present job so that he could prove that he was jobless, and fit to apply for the job. He left his simple job and applied for the big job. He was jobless for one month. But he had saved some money and could survive for one month without a job.
He waited patiently to get the new job. Unfortunately, he did not get the new job, as there were many applicants and someone else was selected for the post. This poor man could not go back to the old simple job because someone else had been appointed in his place.
He realized that the simple job which he had was better than the bigger job which did not belong to him in reality.

Once a dog found a piece of bone. He was walking with the bone in his mouth looking for a nice place to eat the bone. Soon he reached a river bridge. While walking across the bridge, he looked down in the water and saw his own reflection. He thought that it was another dog with a bone. He immediately jumped into the river to get what he thought was another bone. In the process he lost his own bone.
Moral : A bird in the hand is worth two in the bush. We should be satisfied with what is already in our possession because while trying to get something which we think is better, we may lose everything.
