Explanation:
Sound of slap ricocheted across the surrounding walls, as my father threw his heavy hand on my mother’s face.
“Don’t utter a word from your dirty mouth or otherwise…” my father threatened, as my mother sat petrified at one corner of the room.
“Son, you go outside for a second” my mother murmured as two lines of glistening water oozed down her pale cheek. I wiped her tears with a help of a tissue and strolled outwards quietly like a sad puppy. As I shut the door, a furious exchange of dialogues took place in between my mother and father. Tension lingered in the atmosphere, as I placed my ear against the door listening to what is happening inside. My small baby brother also came to me and questioned curiously about what’s happening inside. I let his attention to divert and started playing with him. But then after a loud scream from my father, silence broke out all- around. The door opened with a large bang. My mother ran towards me grabbing hold of me and my baby brother hand.
“He’s not your father and I am not his wife. I cannot bare this anymore” sobbing heavily my mother raised his voice to the top of her throat. We are leaving this home right now, I will take care of you guys myself. Listening to these words, I wept, hugging my mother tightly. Few minutes later a car arrived and we had last sight of our home and father.
My mother was a house-wife and had never ever earned a single rupee by her hand as she was not qualified to a required standard nowadays. Previously my father gave fee for our tuitions school and daily fulfilled our needs. But now the situation had changed dramatically, it was a beginning of a new era where we now had to struggle to survive. Our serene life had changed into misery in no time. My mother consoled me that everything would be alright, but I could asses the predicament.
My mother started to search for a job as we needed a source of money. We were provided a lot of help by the generous community members but, how long would it last… Months passed by, but my mother didn’t find a job. So, she decided to sew clothes and sell them in market to have some money to ensure that life keeps going on. She also started working in homes and started teaching in a small school nearby. Earning a total of Rs. 10,000 a month. She did what she possibly could do to fulfill our demands, fee and other daily necessities. Despite getting high fever or illness, she never left her job and kept working hard for us and to enlighten our future.
Life returned to a routine after a huge struggle. I was so glad that my mother didn’t give up in a situation when we were in deep waters.
As I grew up, I took care of my mother and my brother and became a bread earner for my family. This incident lingers in mind because in this, I received permanent separation from my father...........
Hope it is helpful....
