The theme Once Bitten Twice Shy is used to indicate that once a person commits a mistake and realizes it, he/she will be extra cautious not to repeat the same type of mistake again.
Once an old lady was frying some pancakes in her kitchen. She had left the window open to let the cool breeze in. Suddenly, someone rang the calling bell and she went to attend it. When she came back, she saw a few crows flying off with some pancakes in their beaks. She regretted not having closed the window before leaving the kitchen.
A few days later, she was making the pancakes once again. Suddenly, she heard her son call out to her. She turned back and took a few steps when she suddenly remembered last time’s incident. She immediately went back and closed the window. Smiling to herself, she went to her son to ask him what he wanted.
