My friend and neighbour, Rahul was a very sad and disappointed young man. Since he met with
an accident a few months ago, he was confined to a wheelchair. His knee had been badly damaged
and he required a number of surgeries to set it right. The doctors said that he would have to wait for
another two months before he could attempt to walk. He was angry that he was unable to run and
play around like others. He was not interested in even meeting his friends. He wanted to be left alone.
Rahul’s parents were quite worried about him.
One day, one of Rahul’s teachers, Mr. Sen visited him and gifted him a set of chess board and coins.
He also taught him the basic rules of the game and asked Rahul to play a few games every day. Rahul soon found himself getting totally engrossed in the game and began to win all the games that he
played with his neighbours. Realizing that he had some talent, Rahul’s parents decided to get him a
coach who spent a few hours everyday teaching him the nuances of the game.
Rahul forgot all about his health condition and practiced hard everyday. His confidence level went
up as he slowly started winning prizes at all the local tournaments. He was soon his old cheerful
self. In six months’ time, Rahul participated in the State Level Championships and secured Second
Position and was selected to represent his state at the National Championships. It was a proud
moment for Rahul, who then realized that the accident had indeed been a blessing in disguise for
him. And Mr. Sen encouraged Rahul for the game. For, if he had not been confined to a wheelchair,
he would never have tried his hand at chess. And would have never won a trophy at International
level too! He and his whole family were delighted. His name was all over in the newspapers and on
all news channels. I went to congratulate him. After it was all over, I realized that Every cloud has a

Answer:
I got my new bundle of books when I entered class VIII. Class Teacher told that we will be having our unit test in a month's time. So, I thought of studying from the beginning. I picked up a book which looked attractive. It was so interesting that I spent fifteen days in reading this without caring I have to more books to go. Then, one day my friend Hanif called to ask about my preparation. I replied joyfully that I have completed the book on moral values. He said that we hardly have any such book for this exam. Later, I came to know that the book was meant for class IX and had come in my bundle by mistake. Now, my mind stopped working. Three books and just 12 days to prepare. I wasted two days in anxiety for I was not able to grasp anything. Then, I composed myself and thought of beginning again. The exam day arrived and I was almost shivering with fear. I saw the paper and almost jumped with joy as it contained a 20 marks essay on moral values. The rest three questions I managed to attempt but this one I wrote with great confidence. I got 18 marks out of 20 for this particular question. After it was all over I realized that no knowledge is waste. Every cloud has a silver lining.
