It was raining heavily and as I dashed towards the deserted building, the downpour kept increasing by my every breath. My clothes were soaked wet in the summer rain, and there was no way I could've escaped that thunderstorm. My shoes were no more of use. A sharp stone, upon which I've stepped had pierced it first, and then it had progressed towards my foot. I tried to maintain my pace, but I lacked the strength, as most of it was taken dragging my nearly paralyzed foot all the way across. I couldn't dare look at the road for a while. Not that it was wrapped with thousands of dead bodies, decapitated, and even some insides were scattered all around, but because of the creatures, coming in swarms, from under the ground. I was panicking, just like any other person would do. It felt like a gazillion years to reach the only standing building in the whole city. Others were either demolished by them, or their queen gulped them down to quench her thirst of human blood. There was nothing going on around, not a single voice rather than that of the raindrops. All I could hear was — pitter and patter. I struggled to pull my leg up the stairs, and I saw one of their kind smelling living blood furiously. It hadn't tracked me down yet but I knew where it stood. It sniffed all across the decaying flesh, and the maroon red footpaths. I knew it would come to me next, but I gotta hurry. They were dangerous really dangerous. I had tripped three times over the stairs, imagining their teeth, and razor like pincers. They were dark, and looked like beetle wings on a tarantula, only much, much larger. I've seen how they injected their tongue to suck all the blood out, even sometimes decapitate bodies with their teeths, often when they're in a lot. I finally diverted my mind from the sight when I first saw them, and looked for some light in the darkened hallway. It was quiet, strangely quiet. The one sniffing had gone somewhere else, maybe because it couldn't locate my smell, maybe it just imagined it. It was just the dead bodies again. Unintentionally, I gave a dark smile, which I couldn't prevent anyway. It feels so much to be alive when everyone's dead. They all are decaying behold me, getting eaten by worms wriggling around their mouths. I could feel I was supreme, because of which the fate has saved me! I knew it had driven me crazy, but it felt so good! I was laughing a dark tone, which was pathetic but I didn't care! But all of a sudden, I heard voices of a liquid dripping. It wasn't rain, because it sounded much, much thicker. But it was none of my concerns. I banged my head at the walls, and took pieces of concrete to stab myself. I had gone insane. Yet, the only thing I could remember properly is a smell, that of decaying fish, kept for days and stale, move around my body.
