A Voyage to the Sea

Once upon a time, there was a fisherman. He lived in a cool house by the seaside. One day, he decided to go on a voyage to the middle of the sea and begin the month with a big catch. He set out on his sailboat. As he reached the center of the sea, the wind became unusually strong on his face. The sky had turned a shade of grey. He realized a storm was about to arrive. He started to head back but suddenly, his boat was lifted up by a tidal surge and turned over. He swam in the storm, breathlessly, holding on to the hull of the boat for dear life. By the time the storm calmed down, it was night. The man was so thirsty but he knew from years of fishing he could not drink the seawater. How would he survive? His question was answered when it started raining. He had a plastic pouch in his pocket for times like these. He collected the rainwater in that pouch and satisfied his thirst. Now, his daily routine changed to swimming, catching fish, and drinking from his pouch, and trying not to die. He waited and waited for someone to help. Finally, on day five of the voyage, a ship full of excited young voyagers spotted him. He impressed them by narrating his adventure, though his condition and shape had already marked him as The-Superman-Who Survived-The-Sea in their eyes. Soon the voyagers dropped the fisherman at the shore. And again, he was home, in his cool house, watching the sea, having a biscuit. "Well," said he. "That was fun."

Story writing

It is not difficult to write story from outlines given. They are like the building blocks of the story we are building. It is better when we are provided a storyline and do not have to cook up a tale. Here are some points to keep in mind:

  • As my English teacher always says, it is important to incorporate all of the hints given in the story. Otherwise she would cut marks.
  • Stories have a protagonist, a hero who saves the day and an antagonist, the villain. In this story, the protagonist was the fisherman and there was no antagonist, no, not the storm even.
  • The story should also be given a title which should absorb the idea of the story.
