I too got an opportunity that my friend presented to me, i.e. the opportunity for a job. I needed one and she offered me one, it was as simple as that.
On the job I felt much discomfort due to the way many colleagues treated me. They would often make bad comments and I could hear them clearly. I felt a little upset but didn't know what was bothering them. My boss was much friendly than I expected and therefore he was the only one who talked nicely to me.
I communicated with him often and started feeling that he was getting a little too friendly. Later on, I discovered that the colleagues disliked me because they thought my rich father had pulled a few strings to get me such a position at this firm. I was appalled at the mere thought of my father intervening in my business. I went to confront my boss who found me alone and started talking about making some deals, "how I keep him happy will determine my future at the firm". I slapped him and tried to leave when he tackled me against the wall. He tried to overpower me but thank God my body reacted in a defense and I kneed him badly. He fell to the ground and I left his office, limping. I got injured that day but I learned a lesson for life, its better to speak your mind and always be cautious of ill people. Because such incidents can happen anytime. We must be mentally prepared for anything wrong at any time.
