The story that I am going to post is the first story most of us heard in our lives... while there are numerous stories and tales that shape all our lives the first story you listen to is the first step into imagination, to be in a place where you learn to empathise... May be my mom didn't think all these things while she told me the story. Her main priority was to make her annoying little child go to sleep or finish her dinner without fuss ;)

Well this is how the story goes....

"THE THIRSTY CROW"

Once upon a time on a very, very dry day when the sun was shining oh so brightly. It was such a hot day that all the animals and birds had choosen to stay indoors listening to their moms ofcourse.

But there was this little crow that had to come out to fly in this hot sun, seeing the crow fly the sun took it as a challenge and shone even more brightly soaking all the water out of the poor little crow.

The crow grew very tired and was very thirsty, but there was not a drop of water to be seen anywhere. It took the crow all its strength to go on and it felt like Christmas when its eyes could finally see a earthen pot, the crow knewpots had water in them. So it swooped in towards the pot with hope in its eyes to survive atlast. But alas it was not to be there were only a few drops of water at the bottom of the pot unreachable for the poor crow no matter how hard it tried.

The crow was starting to lose hope. But it was a strong and brave crow, it made up its mind not to lose. It sat there and thought hard what could it do. It saw everything around there was a broken hut with no one to help anywhere near, there was a dried out tree with no leaves on it to give any shade, there was not a single blade of green grass on the ground, it was full of pebbles and stones. Poor crow thought to himself what can I do with stones oh God... then it hit the crow the most amazing idea just like magic.

The crow took one pebble at a time and started putting them into the pot and slowly very slowly but surely the water started to rise each pebble gave a new hope to the crow. At last the crow was able to reach the water inside having quenched its thirst it flew again into the vast sky with sure wings and a hopeful heart. The sun saw the crow now and smiled.

P.S. this may not be a very fancy story but is very close to my heart being the first story which introduced the world of literature with such simplicity.
