Name of the poem : Bazaar of Hyderabad
"In the Bazaar of Hyderabad " is a amazing poem written by Sarojini Naidu. It describes the various stalls in the Bazaar of Hyderabadwhich clearly state the cultural and social life there.
The poem begins with a question through which the merchants are asked what they are selling. They answered that they sold turban, tunics, mirrors and daggers all in different colours. There were stalls where vendors were weighing and selling saffron, lentils and rice.
The maidens could be seen grinding sandalwood , henna and spices abd peddlars calling for the sale of chessmen and ivory dice.
There were many ornaments also which were being sold in the bazaar of Hyderabad. The goldsmiths were making wristlet, anklets rings and gold gridles for dancers. The fruit men were selling citron, pomegranate and plums.
There are musicians playing sitar, sarang and drum. There were flowers girls who were wearing crowns for a bridegroom and sheets of white for the dead as well.
Thus we can see the variety of things available in the Bazaar of Hyderabad through which people from cultural and social background earn for their living...
