The Secret

"What's all this about, John?" I asked in surprise.

"Oh, this?" John asked, taking the black box in his hand and started to open it.

"Yeah, tell me", I said, as I went closer to look at it.

John and I have been together since our college time. He was a brilliant student, and well-recognised for some of his inventions, like Nhoj, a medicine to heal any wound in a second. It was quite difficult for him to name it, but I suggested him to give it his name. And what he did!

But these all happened ten years ago.

The first three years of our married life passed quite smoothly. We had a son. Kevin. He was named after John's grandfather Kevin senior. He was a great man. John often spoke about him. Not nowadays! In our college days.

Kevin doesn't live with us. He doesn't live at all. I remember that night. John was working on a laser releaser. Kevin was standing in front of the hollow pointer. A bit closer with an innocent face. Just like his father. I wanted to take a closer look.

I said, "John, can I go clo ... ."

I couldn't finish my words. John turned to nod his head. His mind slipped. Laser beams went through Kevin. There is no Kevin since then.

But this happened seven years ago. We haven't talked since then. John still thinks that it was his fault, but I know, I wanted to kill Kevin. I never wanted to have a son. But John did. I was bothered again and again by the noisy kid. He was such a disturbance!

John is touching me again. What is he trying to do? No. No. No. I will not fall for this. Never!

I am seeing John's blue eyes. They hypnotise me each time. This is the reason I fell in love with him. No wife should love a perfect husband like him! Ah, I wish I could kill him.

In a sudden, the room is so alone! Only the black box is left over the dust filled carpet.
