Explanation:

Tipu Sultan was king of Mysore form 1782 to 1799. He was a soldier, poet and scholar. He was the eldest son of Sultan Hydar Ali, Fatima Faklhr-un- Nisa was his mother. He is known for introducing lunisolar calender, new laws, new coinage and land revenue system. He fought many wars against the British to maintain the independence of his kingdom. He was treacherously defeated by the British on March 21, 1791. He is referred as "the tiger of Mysore".
