child labour
Child labour involves the regular working of children in their childhood at very young age from five to fourteen years. Children in many developing countries are forced to work hard for full day against their will at very low pay for their survival. They want to go school, play with their friends and need love and care by their parent like other children living in rich houses. But unfortunately, they are forced to do something against their will.
In developing countries, the rate of the child labour is high because of the poverty, low level awareness for education and poor schooling opportunities. Most of the children of age group 5 to 14 are found to be involved in the agriculture by their parents in the rural areas. Poverty and lack of schools are the primary reasons of child labour in any developing country all across the world.
Childhood is considered as the happiest and vital experience in the life of everyone as childhood is the most important and friendly period of learning. Children have full rights to get proper attention from their parents, love and care from their parents, proper schooling, guidance, playing with friends and other happiful moments. Child labour is corrupting the lives of many precious children every day. It is the high level of illegal act for which one should be punished but because of the ineffective rules and regulations it is going side by side.
Nothing effective is happening to prevent the child labour from society as quickly as possible. Children are too young, cute and innocent to realize the things happening to them in the early age. They are unable to recognise that what is wrong and illegal for them instead they become happy getting small money for their work. Unknowingly they become interested in the getting money on daily basis and ruining their whole life and future.

ESSAY ON CHILD MARRIAGE
Meaning: child marriage means that two children are forced to marry each other with the consent of the two families. The children are forced into the institution of marriage without knowing the real meaning of marriage and its significance.
Introduction: Child marriage as a concept can be defined as the formal or an informal union between two individuals before attaining the age of eighteen years. This institution should be seen as an abuse of human rights since this is one form of a forced marriage. As per the law in India, a child marriage is one in which the girl is below the age of eighteen and the boy is below the age of twenty-one years.
Child marriages have a history in India. they have existed from times of the Delhi Sultanate when the monarchy system was prevalent. Indians also used child marriages as a weapon to protect girls from rapes and abduction by foreign rulers. Another social reason to initiate child marriages was that the elders wanted to see the faces of their grandchildren.
Effects of child marriage: Once they get married, the girl child is forced to leave her home and inhabit another place, and she is forced to take up roles that she isn’t mentally prepared for. Such great responsibilities like that of mother and a daughter-in-law are too much for a minor girl child. It eventually leads to isolation and depression. For the males, taking up a responsibility as critical as that of the wife as in to take of her finances and share your own finances also become taxing.
The childhood is lost and the freedom to play and learn is also snatched in the process. Early marriages also carry with them excessive risk factors. There is a great risk of contracting sexual diseases like HIV. Also, girls who marry early are less likely to be updated about pregnancy and related subjects. The child born to such mothers are more likely to suffer from malnutrition, low birth weights.
In India, child marriages are still prevalent in the state of Kerala, the state with the highest literacy rates. According to the UNICEF’s report, in India, there were more child marriages in rural areas than urban. Bihar has the highest incidence of child marriage at 68 percent while Himachal Pradesh with around nine percent has the lowest incidence as per the report.
Law to prevent child marriages in India: The Indian constitution provides for prohibitions against child marriage through various laws and enactments. The first law that was designed was the Child Marriage
Restraint Act of 1929 which extended to the whole of India except Jammu and Kashmir. This act defines the ages of an adult male and female. The age of girl must be eighteen or above eighteen years and the age of boy must be twenty-one or above twenty-one years at the time of marriage. If they are less than their ages and going to get married, it implies an imprisonment up to 15 days along with a fine of one thousand rupees. This act was again amended in the year 1940 to raise the ages of male and female children.
How to increase social awareness about child marriage: All the children need to be aware of their human rights and must be taught to refuse and speak up once if such an incident is taking place or is about to take place. The media also needs to adopt a more proactive role in generating awareness towards this heinous ritual.
A popular show like “Balika Vadhu” was definitely a step in a right direction but then again somewhere in the midst of gaining TRP’s, the main issue of child marriage took a backseat. Proper media sensitization is required for a major change to take place.
