APJ Abdul Kalam was an Indian scientist and politician. He was born in Rameshwaram, Tamil Nadu on October 13 1931 to a poor Family. He studied physics and aerospace engineering. He was the Indian President from 2002-2007.
He has won many awards, including the Bharat Ratna, the highest Indian Civilian Award. He was a patron of education as well. He passed away on July 27 2015 at Shillong.

Abdul Kalam had three close friends when he was a boy.They are Ramananda Shastry,Arvindan and Sivaprakashan.Later, Ramananda Shastry took over the priesthood of Rameshawaram temple from his father.Arvindan went into the business of arranging transport for visiting pilgrims.Sivaprakashan became a catering contractor for the Southern Railways.
