Kangaroo Adaptation

Kangaroos from these areas have behavioural and structural adaptations that enable them to survive the harsh conditions. Kangaroos from desert and semi-arid environments have adapted to drier conditions and have several features that help them deal with the lack of water.

Adaptation Of Rat

Despite living in the heat of the desert, kangaroo rats don't sweat. They also have very oily coats. Both of these adaptations prevent them from losing water. Without sweat, they are less able to cool their bodies, so they use their front legs to dig burrows underground.

Adaptation of Sandgrouse

Sandgrouses are gregarious and terrestrial, inhabit open plains, desert, and brush, feed on seeds, and nest on the ground. There are two genera, comprising 16 species, some migratory, found in Europe, Africa, and Asia. Syrrhaptes species occur only in Asia, but Pallas's sandgrouse (S. paradoxus) is prone to mass migration.
