Explanation:

Experiment to demonstrate the comparison between conductivity of metals and non metals

Aim- To demonstrate the comparison between conductivity of metals and non metals.

Theory- Metals conduct electricity whereas non metals are insulators.

Materials - Graphite, Alumunium foil, Block of Sulphur in China Dish.

Procedure-

Take a bulb, and connect it with the battery.

Take the battery of 1.5 volts and connect to positive and negative terminal of the bulb.

Now, cut out a part of connected wire.

Take one by one the materials, lime Al foil, Sulphur and Graphite.

Note the observations.

Observation:

The metal like Alumunium conduct electricity. The bulb glows

Only one non metal Graphite is conductor of electricity, whereas Sulphur does not as the bulb doesn't glow .

Precautions :-

The connections should be tight. Also, mild voltage battery is acceptable.
