It was a cloudy day. In the evening we went out to play in the park. But suddenly the clouds became darker and there was thunder and lightning. A strong wind started blowing. Quickly all my friends and my elder brother gathered our things and we started running towards our house. I was holding a water bottle in my hand.

While running the bottle slipped from my hand so I had to bend down to pick it up. But because of the strong wind it rolled away. I went behind it and tried to pick it up. In the process I lost sight of the others. They did not notice that I was left behind. Big drops of rain started falling and visibility was low.

I tried to see which was the right way to my house. But I was so scared that I could not remember the correct way. I was all alone. It was becoming darker. The wind became more fierce and there was thunder and lightning. I was almost carried away by the strong wind when I caught hold of a tree trunk. Its branches were shaking and I was getting more scared.

It seemed to be a long night. I was drenched with rain. The wind was biting cold. Darkness enveloped me from all around. After going through this experience I have become very fearful and cautious.

Sometime last year, I was pillion riding my friend’s motorcycle, which his older brother had bought not too long ago. We were returning home from school. Suddenly, he lost control, swerved to the right and hit the divider on Kazi Nazrul Islam Avenue. I was thrown off the vehicle and landed in the middle of the road. By the grace of God, I survived as the driver of the car behind us applied the brakes in the nick of time.

Ever since this incident took place I stopped riding two-wheeler of all kinds. I’ve become so fearful of these vehicles on busy roads that I even tell others to be extra cautious on motorcycles and scooters.
