C.V. Raman was a renowned Indian physicist.
1. Born- Nov 7, 1888.
2.Earliest researches- optics and acoustics.
3. Joined Indian Finance Department in 1907
4. In 1917, he was offered the position of Sir Taraknath Palit Professorship of Physics at Calcutta University.
5. Worldwide recognition for works in optics and scattering of light.
6. Awarded with Nobel prize in1930 for his work on scattering of light.
7. In 1934, he became the director of Indian Institute of Sciences in Banglore. A couple of years later, he continued as the professor of physics there.
8. In 1947, he was appointed as the first National Professor by the government of the independent India.
9. He retired from the Indian Institute in the year 1948.
10.In the year 1949, he established Raman Research Institute in Banglore.
