Saving the girl child has become a necessity today. India has got the prestigious history and reputation in every possible field such as technology, education, science, literature, politics, social work, and leadership. Women like Rani Laxmi Bai, JijauMata, Ahilyabai Holkar, Anandibai Joshi, Kittur Chennamma, Savitribai Phule, Kamla Devi Chattopadhyay, Sarojini Naidu, Vijaya Lakshmi Pandit and many more are the greatest examples of leadership in history also Mother Teresa, Indira Gandhi, PT Usha, Kalpana Chawla, Kiran Bedi, Sania Mirza, Saina Nehwal are few of the names in the list of women who have made India proud by their work. 

11 October is celebrated as International girl child day which focuses on problems faced by a girl child such as gender inequality, female foeticide, not able to get their basic human rights such as education, healthcare, legal rights and protection against discrimination. It also focuses on prevention of violence against women and child marriage. The Government of India began an initiative to save girl child, and it is called as “Beti Bachao, Beti Padhao Yojana.” “Beti Bachao” means save girl child and “Beti Padhao” means to educate the girl child. It is a social campaign that aims to create awareness and improve the efficiency of welfare services which are intended for girls.
