Answers
Answer:
Chess is a two-player board game utilizing a chessboard and sixteen pieces of six types for each player. Each type of piece moves in a distinct way. The goal of the game is to checkmate (threaten with inescapable capture) the opponent's king. Games do not necessarily end in checkmate; players often resign if they believe they will lose. A game can also end in a draw in several ways.
Besides the basic moves of the pieces, rules also govern the equipment used, time control, conduct and ethics of players, accommodations for physically challenged players, and recording of moves using chess notation. Procedures for resolving irregularities that can occur during a game are provided as well.
Answer: Chess
Explanation:
Chess is a game played over 1000 years. It is a mind game between 2 players. It is just like a war. The materials needed for playing chess are-
- Chess board, consisting of 64 squares in which 32 are white in color and 32 black in color.
- 32 chess coins, out of which 16 are white and 16 are black♟.
The pieces used for chess are-
- King- Like in every battle, there is a king, similarly, the king here is the head for each player. There are totally 2 kings- 1 in white's army and one in black's. These kings can move only 1 square in any directions.
- Queen- A king needs a queen for both, the battle and the king's support. The same thing in chess. All rules of king apply, but the only difference is that the king can move only 1 square at a time, while the queen can move how many ever squares we want. Remember, 1 queen each player. People say that a queen is a combination of a rook and a bishop.
- Rook- The rook can only move in straight lines, that are front, backwards, right and left. It can move as many ever squares we want. Each team gets 2 rooks each.
- Bishop- The bishop can move in diagonal lines, as many squares we want. Just like the rook, each team gets 2 bishops each.
- Knights- Every war needs a horse. In chess, knight is a horse. It's movement is complicated; It move 2 squares front and a turn and 1 square, in an L shape. Like rooks, There are 2 knights for each player.
- Pawns- What is a war without soldiers? Not a war right? So, we have pawns for being used for soldiers. The capturing of pieces in pawns is different from its movement. Its movement is that it moves 1 square straight (no going back) , until it is in its starting position, when it can move 2 steps front. While capturing, it captures by moving North-east or North-west 1 square, and removing the captured piece.
Capturing of pieces in other pieces is as the same as its movement (other than pawn.)
When the king is under threat by an enemy piece, and can be captured if not saved, it is called check. When a person is in check, and the person cannot move its king, it is called checkmate. The aim of the game is to give the other team checkmate. If there is no legal move for the army, and the king is not in check, it is a stalemate (draw.)
There are 3 results- TIE, WHITE WIN & BLACK WIN.
The starting position is in the image.
2 kings can never check each other.
