Heavy rains have triggered floods in eastern part of China. Disaster authorities report that 6351 people have been relocated and the total 228,000 affected in Jiangxi provinence.
Severe weather has been effecting the provinence since last week. Jigangxi provinence a state of emergency on 5 July. Since then further heavy rains fallen in the provinence. According to China's national Meteorological Center, 225.6mm of rain fell in Guangchang in 24 hours to 7 July. Liuchan also in Jigangxi provinence, recorded 169.5mm rain same period.
Chinese news agency Xinhua, quoting Jigangxi provinence flood control headquarters, said that total 14,900 hectares of cropland have been affected with 900 destroyed 34 houses. Direct economic loses are estimates around US$45 million.
One of the worst hit areas of the city Guido where the downpours caused landslides and damaged roads. Power telle communications and transport links were all disrupted.
