There are four types of computers:

1. Supercomputer
2. Mainframe computer
3. Mini computer
4. Workstation

Supercomputer: They are big and fast computers . They can execute trillions of instructions in a second .They are interconnected by the thousand processors.

• Example : Roger cray the first supercomputer.

Mainframe computer : They are designed for support thousand or more user simultaneously. It supports multiple programs at a time .

• Example : Banking and Telecom sector .

Mini computer: It is a midsize computer in which 4 to hundred in number user can support. Mini computer between mainframe and microcomputer.

• Example : Billing and accounting.

Workstation: It is single user system in which only one user and work for technical & scientific application.It has high graphics adapter .

• Example : Music workstation , graphics workstation,etc.

Personal computer: It is also known as minicomputer in which we operate this computer for personal use .It has all things like RAM ,ROM , input unit , output unit, CPU ,etc .

• Example : Laptop and Desktop computer.
