The executive is the branch of government that is responsible for the day-to-day management of the state. Under the doctrine of the separation of powers, the executive is not supposed to make laws (role of the legislature), nor to interpret them (role of the judiciary). ... The executive is led by the head of Government.

Political Executives are temporary executives, unlike Civil Servants who are elected for a permanent commission. They have to be re-elected after the end of their tenure by way of elections. Their role largely depends on whether or not their party comes to power again or not.
FUNCTION OF EXECUTIVE GOVERNMENT
The primary function of executive is to enforce laws and to maintain law and order in the state. Whenever a breach of law takes place, it is the responsibility of the executive to plug the breach and bring the offenders to book.
TYPES OF EXECUTIVE GOVERNMENT
There are five different kinds of executives:
- Real and Nominal
- Single plural
- Hereditary, Elected and Nominated; Political and
- Permanent
- Parliamentary and Non-Parliamentary
