A flamethrower is a ranged incendiary device designed to project a controllable jet of fire. First deployed by the Byzantine Greeks in the 1st century AD, flamethrowers saw use in modern times during World War I, and more widely in World War II as a tactical siege weapon against fortifications.

Answer:

A flame-thrower is a gun that can send out a stream of burning liquid and that is used as a weapon or for clearing plants from an area of ground. it seems like spray ignited incendiary fuel. In a nozzle it had burning liquid which comes out when we put pressure on it.

Uses of Flame Thrower :-

  1. Flamethrowers are primarily used against battlefield fortifications, bunkers, and other protected emplacements.
  2. A flamethrower projects a stream of flammable liquid, rather than flame, which allows bouncing the stream off walls and ceilings to project the fire into unseen spaces, such as inside bunkers or pillboxes.

Invention :-

It was created by Germany engineer Richard Fiedler in 1901 and was known as the flammenwerfer.
