Explanation:
- Gandhiji with his followers left the the Sabarmati ashram towards Dandi , a coastal village in Gujarat in 12th march 1930. They walked 240 miles reached the place on 6th april 1930. Gandhiji picked a handful of salt and broke the salt law.
- Because at that time salt was the monopoly of the British. Only the British could manufacture and sell the salt. Gandhiji by breaking the Salt Law started the famous Civil Dis obedience Movement.
- The main motive of the Civil Dis obedience movement is to disobey the British Government by breaking the laws which are oppressive in nature.
