Miss Sullivan - Helen's famous teacher, was herself blind once. However, she regained her eyesight and devoted her life to educating the blind. She remained Helen's teacher and life-long companion. Helen was aware of the fact that she was an inseparable part of her life.
She was extermely patient and hard working woman. She went with Helen everywhere. At every school she spelled into her hand whatever the teacher said. She interpreted everything to her. It was not an easy task. Even at college she attended classes with Helen and spelled the lectures into her hand as rapidly as possible.
Helen keller - She was lively, curious and assertive child. She was just six months old when when she uttered the words ''How d'ye'' , and then surprised everyone by saying
'' Tea , Tea , Tea''.
Unfortunately , an illness rendered her blind and deaf when she was only nineteenth months old. But that did not diminish her vigour and zest for life. She evolved her own signs to communicate with others. She learnt nany small things like folding and putting away the clean clothes coming from the laundry, greeting the guests,playing with Maratha, a little coloured girl, and her pet dog Belle.

She loves the nature most. So, she likes to study mainly in the lap of nature. Coming of Miss Sullivan in her life is a great change. As she learn how to speak and talk in sign language because of Miss Sullivan.

On the first day of meeting she gave her a doll. After playing a little she spelled on her hand the word d-o-l-l (doll). At first Helen was unable to understand what she was trying to say her and teaching her. But as the days passed she was able to understand what she was trying to say. She taught her by writing words on her hand. She also gave her beads of different letters. By arranging the beads she learn new words.
Helen likes to study in nature. So she also take She outside so that she learn with interest.
She always ready to help her in her difficult time. Because of her Helen was able to study. She taught her not as an adult, but she taught her like that she was herself a child.
She was like a light house in Helen's dark world who take her from darkness to light. Helen loves everyone in her family. But her special affection towards her teacher Miss. Sullivan.
