Haider Ali had a humble begining as a soldier in the Mysore army, who gradually rose in ranks. He was brilliant commander and a diplomat . In 1761, he took over the state of Mysore , established his authority and made it a powerful state. He was successed by his great son Tipu Sultan also known as "Tiger of Mysore".
