A best friend is basically a sister from another mother. A best friend has multiple roles in our lives, and we are lucky to have that one person who understands every part of us. We should thank them for being there and being themselves because we would not be the same without them. I was lucky enough to meet my best friend, my person, when I first moved from Louisiana to North Carolina. We met in our fifth grade class, and since then, Machayla and I have been friends for eight years. It is still hard to imagine that we have been friends for so long. We have been through ups and downs, thick and thin, and so much more.
For example, when Machayla moved away, we had to make an effort to stay friends. In order to do this, we had to make time for Skype sessions and talk on the phone. Eventually, she moved back and our friendship was stronger than ever. Machayla has been there for me through so much, and I cannot thank her enough. She has been there for a laugh, a cry, or just when I needed to vent about whatever was happening in my life. I am so blessed to have her.
